Welcome to the South East Ipswich Cage Bird Society, the club was formed back in 1972 and is now in its 39th year.  To the best of our knowledge,  a handful of local fanciers,  Ivan Bickers, George Porter, and brothers Fred and Wally Mortimer, the latter two were the Show Managers.

Meetings were held at  All Hallows Church Hall on Landseer Road.  These were on a tuesday evening.  A member’s show was held at the Racecourse Public House on Nacton Road in 1974.  Birds were shown in various types of cages including tea chests and ordinary pet bird cages.  The honour to judge this event went to our President Mr Harry Bussey.

In time George Flory and Roy Hurn joined the ranks.  Meetings were moved to Golden Hind.  Jim Haddock and son were members, John Pollard was secretary.

Harry Bussey joined as chairman; Mick Wright, Peter Rogers, Roy Catling and a young Gary Wincomb were all members.

An Open Show was held at the Catholic Hall of Spring Road.  Meetings were moved to another public house this time The Haven on Felixstowe Road.

During the 80’s Tolly Cobbold Club was the chosen venue for the meetings these were now held on a wednesday night.

Over the years the Open Shows were held at,  St. Clements Church Hall, Waterworks St.,  N.A.B.C. Clubs Hall Bramford Road, Scout Hut Chesterfield Drive, Ransomes Sports Club Sidegate Avenue and now the present venue at Great Blakenham Village Hall Great Blakenham.
